All currently registered students will be issued a library card at the library circulation desk with valid identification demonstrating proof of registration (i.e., Driver’s License, current student identification card, current student activities card, or a registrar’s print out of current class schedule). Students are not permitted to check out video recordings, sound recordings or educational software for use outside of the library.Students may view media items or check out instructional workstations for in-house use by presenting a valid library card to staff at the library circulation desk. Classified and Confidential Staff will be issued a library card at the library circulation desk with valid identification demonstrating proof of employment (i.e., Staff Identification Card or Driver’s License). This card will remain valid until termination of employment.Classified Staff may check out media items (excluding active Telecourse videotapes and “Faculty Use Only” items) and workstations by presenting a valid library card to staff at the library circulation desk. Use Only” items. Renewals will be permitted as long as another patron has not requested the item. District employees can renew items for the same circulation period as the initial checkout either in person at the library circulation desk or by phone. Media items may be returned to any library on any of the three RCCD campuses (i.e., Riverside, Moreno Valley, and Norco). It is the patron’s responsibility to return media materials on time. Each item is assigned a due date and overdue notices are sent as a courtesy to the patron. Overdue items are assessed a fine of 20 cents per day per item. Overdue hourly reserve items accrue a fine of $1.00 per hour per item. Fines will not be charged for days that the library is closed. The maximum overdue fine is $20.00 per item. Notification by mail will be sent out in accordance with the following schedule:
Bills for replacement of materials are generated after the third overdue notice has been issued. Replacement bills include overdue fines, the actual replacement cost of the item, and a $10.00 processing fee. If an item is returned within a year from the date that the replacement bill was issued, the replacement cost of the item will be refunded. The processing fee and the overdue fines will not be refunded. The library is not responsible for items charged to lost or stolen library cards. Circulation staff should be notified as soon as soon as the patron discovers that their card is missing. A replacement card may be purchased for $1.00. District employees may place a hold on an item that is checked out either in person at the library circulation desk, library reference desk or by phone. A Library Transaction Request form must be completed for each item. The patron will be notified as soon as the item is available. Media material awaiting pickup will be held at the Library circulation desk for one (1) week. District employees may submit a search request for missing materials either in person at the library circulation desk or the library reference desk. A Library Transaction Request form will be completed for each item. The circulation staff will search for the item for two weeks, and then notify the patron of the outcome of the search. District employees may request media materials from any of the three RCCD campuses in accordance with their Borrowing Privileges; however, patrons should attempt to locate items at their home campus first. Items can be requested either in person or by phone at the library circulation desk or library reference desk. A Multimedia Request Form must be completed for the required materials. The patron will be notified as soon as the item is available. Upon arrival, the requested items will be held at the library circulation desk for one (1) week. Students will not be able to use media materials under each of the following circumstances: Community borrowers are not permitted to use multimedia materials. Classified and Confidential Staff will not be able to check out items under each of the following circumstances: Academic and Management Staff will not be able to check out items under each of the following circumstances: If any patron feels there are mitigating circumstances that should be considered in respect to overdue fines or replacement bills, she/he may discuss the situation with the following people until a resolution to the situation has been attained: If, after consulting with each of these individuals no resolution to the situation has been attained, the patron may follow the District’s Formal Grievance Procedure. |
