All duplication or conversion requests for commercial audio-visual multimedia must be accompanied by written permission from the copyright holder.The IMC requires two (2) weeks notice from the time the multimedia is delivered to the Network & Multimedia Librarian in order to fulfill requests. Instructors must provide the blank recording media needed for their request. Refer to the Multimedia Procedure for further instructions on requesting these services. The IMC duplicates/converts media materials in the following formats:
Multimedia is digitized and/or installed on IMC workstations or servers on a “first come, first served basis.” All installation requests must be accompanied by written permission to duplicate, network and/or digitize from the copyright holder. The IMC requires two (2) weeks notice from the time the multimedia is delivered to the Network & Multimedia Librarian in order to fulfill requests. Refer to the Multimedia Procedure for further instructions on requesting these services. Requests for off-air video or audio recording must be forwarded to the Instructional Media Technician 48 hours in advance of the broadcast. Recording requests must include the following information: a) Name, b) Department, c) Phone Number, d) Program Title, e) Broadcast Channel, f) Broadcast Time, g) Date Needed. The IMC can record programs from both Adelphia and Charter cable services. Instructors must provide the blank recording media needed for their request. All off-air video/audio recordings are subject to the Fair Use Guidelines for Off-Air Broadcast Recordings. Instructors are responsible for erasing or destroying the program per the 45-day Fair Use Rule. The Instructional Media Center schedules satellite conferencing on a “first come, first served basis,” and requires at least two (2) weeks advance notice for scheduling. To schedule a satellite conference, follow normal room scheduling procedures to secure the room. The following rooms have satellite down linking capability:
Once the location has been secured you must complete a Multimedia Request Form either in person, by phone, or online to book your event. Arrangements for paying the down linking fees must be made ahead of time, and a copy of the purchase order and a copy of the license to view the conference must be submitted along with the Multimedia Request Form before the event can be booked. The Instructional Media Technician will contact the requesting party to finalize the arrangements. Please be prepared to provide the following information: a) Name of organization you will be conferencing with, b) Contact name, c) Phone number, d) Address, e) Conference technician's name and phone number, f) Satellite coordinates, g) Date and time of the event, h) Event duration. The IMC uses PictureTel's Venue 2000, which includes the Bose Microphone System (virtuoso), document camera, and VCR. The IMC offers point-to-point and multipoint conferencing. Departments requesting any videoconferencing are responsible for paying all toll charges. The video conferencing system conveys information via ISDN lines. The IMC also provides CENIC connectivity via a dedicated network connection in the Hall of Fame on the Riverside Campus. CENIC is a dedicated data network linking each of the campuses of the CSU and California Community Colleges. The dedicated network connection utilizes a Polycom viewing station, which has a built in camera. Upon request a VCR for recording events as well as playing tapes to remote sites can be added to the system. Additional equipment including a document camera, a video camera, and a television can also be requested at the time of scheduling. The Instructional Media Center schedules videoconferences on a “first come, first served basis,” and requires at least two (2) weeks advance notice for scheduling. party at the time of the request if the project will take longer
than two (2) weeks. All content information related to the presentation

The Instructional Media Center provides digital/35mm photography services for district-related events. These services include copy stand photography (photos from books). All photography service requests are subject to U.S. Copyright Law, and requests for photography of copyrighted images must be accompanied with written permission from the copyright holder. The Instructional Media Center provides video production services including videotaping, editing, and post-production for district-related events. Please contact the IMC Manager for more information or to arrange these services. All closed-captioning services must be arranged through Disabled Student Programs & Services (DSP&S). Faculty members who require closed-captioning for a video program to be viewed by a hearing impaired student must submit a Caption Request Form (one for each videotape) at least two weeks in advance to DSP&S. Caption Request Forms will be distributed at the beginning and end of each semester, and additional forms will be available in the DSP&S office. Faculty may submit their requests to DSP&S at any time during the semester. All captioned videotapes are catalogued by the Library/Learning Resources and are included in the library catalog, LAMP. Faculty should confirm that a captioned version of the videotape does not exist before submitting a Caption Request Form to DSP&S. Captioned videotapes in LAMP have a subject heading entitled “Video recordings for the hearing impaired.” District-produced, closed-captioned videotapes are only to be used to support and meet ADA requirements by fulfilling the needs of hearing impaired students. A district-produced, closed-captioned videotape is considered a supplement to the original videotape and should not be thought of as a second copy of the original. These supplemental, closed-captioned videotapes are only circulated for use by and for the hearing impaired. |
